After the initial application of the hydro seed expect your lawn have to have a green coating. In the days following hydro seeding it is completely normal for the green dye to fade away.

It is important that you stay off the lawn so that the seed does not become damaged.

Water your lawn 2 to 3 times a day for 15 minutes per section in order to prevent the product from drying out as well as to speed up the maturation process.

When the seed appears to have a mature and healthy root, water your lawn once a day for 15 minutes per section.

In the 4 to 5 weeks after the initial application of hydro seed, apply starter fertilizer (we recommend Triple 19 Starter Fertilizer) at bag application rate.

8 to 9 weeks after the initial application apply Broad Leaf Weed Killer with Fertilizer. Then begin an ongoing Fertilizer plan. We recommend Scott’s 5 Step Lawn Care Program.

On average lawns should grow in eight to ten weeks after the application of hydro seed. We recommend mowing your lawn after the grass is 3” to 4” inches high.

Hydro Seeding is a lawn seeding process that utilizes slurry of seed, mulch, water, and fiber. We own and operate our own Hydro Seed trucks and our employees are trained in hydro seeding so feel free to ask the M.J. Nicholls team about the process.

We use the highest quality of hydro seed to ensure that your lawn grows back hardy and healthy. In order to ensure the highest performance of grass seed, M.J. Nicholls uses premium quality John Deere Landscape Park Mixture. The hydro seed contains Kentucky Bluegrass, Quicken Perennial Ryegrass, Boreal Creeping Red Fescue, Crab Grass Preventer, green dye, & Tacifier Glue for erosion control.

Helpful Guidelines:

NOTE: Weeds will grow initially with the seeding. However, once seed has grown then you should apply Broad Leaf weed treatment to your lawn.

For best results when mowing your lawn change direction of mowing pattern regularly.

When fertilizing use either an accurate drop type spreader or broadcast spreader.

Keep newly seeded lawn moist until established. Be mindful of over-watering.
